Havurah Shalom Shabbat School
May 3, 2011
Shabbat School is for Havurah families with students in grades K-6. It meets approximately 17 Saturday afternoons throughout the school year from 3:00 – 5:15pm. With the help and direction of staff and a well-structured curriculum, parents work together in teams to plan and implement the curriculum and community building activities for their child’s grade (each parent teaches 4 sessions). In addition to giving our children a basis for Jewish learning, Shabbat School fosters a strong sense of community amongst families. Many parents feel that they, too, enhance their knowledge about and connection to Judaism through their experience.
If you have a child who is entering grades K-6 in the autumn of 2011-2012 and are considering having him/her participate in our Jewish education program or you have a general interest in how Havurah Shalom families “do” Jewish education…..please be in touch immediately with Deborah Eisenbach-Budner, Education Director.
Our annual Shabbat School Summit will be Saturday, May 21. The Summit gives parents an overview of the Shabbat School structure and curriculum, as well as time to connect with the other parents in their child’s class. Parents also begin planning for the upcoming school year at that time.
