Welcome Havurah’s New Administrative Director
Havurah Shalom is pleased to announce that Andrea Wiener has been hired to serve as Administrative Director of Havurah. Andrea will be administering the day-to-day operations of the congregation, and working closely with the Steering Committee, Rabbi, Educator and other staff. Andrea has been involved in office management since 1987, and in nonprofit management since 1992, providing a strong administrative foundation to support the vision and activities of members, volunteers, and leaders.
Andrea grew up in New York and California, received her B.A. in International Relations from U.S. International University, and her MA in Body Therapy from the University for Humanistic Studies. Andrea completed professional training in the Feldenkrais Method, and has held board and staff positions at the Feldenkrais Guild of North America.
Andrea writes, “I’m delighted to be joining the Havurah Shalom staff as Administrative Director. The mission statement describes Havurah as vibrant, diverse, and participatory. I sense this each time I walk through the doors, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the congregation in all your endeavors.
“I grew up culturally Jewish, spiritually liberal, and non-religious. As children, my parents escaped from Hitler in Austria and Germany, and as adults in a small New York town with a very conservative rabbi, they helped found a Unitarian fellowship. My spiritual journey as an adult has led me to an ever-deepening relationship with Judaism. I feel so fortunate to have found this position at Havurah, where my spiritual life and my work life will serve each other.”
“I’m here at Havurah half time, but wholeheartedly. I’ll be in the office Monday through Thursday, administering the day to day operations of the congregation and working closely with Rabbi Joey, Deborah, Chris, Mario, and the Steering Committee. You’ll also see me at Kabbalat Shabbat and other community events. I look forward to getting to know you!”
