Affiliations
Havurah Shalom is affiliated with the following religious and social action groups:
Jewish Reconstructionist Movement – The Jewish movement springing from twentieth century American concerns for egalitarianism, democratic process, and focus on the community as arbiter of Jewish imaginative practice and theology.
Community of Welcoming Congregations (CWC) – An association of religious congregations begun in the Portland metropolitan area that welcome and affirm people of all sexual orientations.
Green Empowerment (GE) – Portland-based organzation that partners with rural communities in the developing world to implement renewable energy and water systems that alleviate poverty and preserve the environment.
Jubilee Oregon – Local chapter of Jubilee USA Network, an all volunteer group committed to fulfilling the Jubilee goal of 100% unconditional cancellation of the debt claimed from the countries of the South and “owed” to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and bi-laterally to countries in the North.
Interfaith Council of Greater Portland (ICGP) – An interfaith ministry for dialog among clergy for the purpose of gaining understanding and cooperation between congregations.
Lift Urban Portland – An alliance of faith-based institutions in Northwest Portland. They aim to combine financial, communication, and volunteer resources to meet practical needs of residents in our own neighborhood.
Metropolitan Alliance for the Common Good (MACG) – An organization of community based institutions in an around Portland, Oregon. It works to create a strong, non-partisan civil sector voice to address economic, social, and environmental issues affecting our community.
