Havurah’s Memoir Writing class presents: “An Evening of Memories,” Friday, December 16th at 7:00 pm

December 5, 2011

On December 16, join us for a special Friday night service, which will include the 3rd annual reading by the participants of the “Memoir Writing from a Jewish Perspective” workshop.

The class has been working for the past eight weeks under the direction of Rob Freedman to develop their personal stories, reflective of a wide range of the American Jewish experience. You will hear tales of family dilemmas, stories of survival, of love and loss. You will hear stories that may remind you of your own. This is, after all, a communal experience.

Readers will include: Heidi Bader, Jenni Besen, Nathan Cogan, Rob Freedman, Andrine de la Rocha, Howard Patterson, Scott Snyder, Fufkin Vollmeyer, and Sabina Wohlfeiler.

Please note that there will be an early starting time for services at 7 pm which will be led by Rabbi Joey, with the reading and oneg to follow.

End-of-Year Giving: Please make a Chanukah Gift to Havurah!

December 5, 2011

Please include our Havurah Shalom community this year in your list of worthwhile organizations to which you make end-of-the-tax year charitable donations.

One glance at the bi-weekly Havurah email or Hakol is enough to remind us of how Havurah Shalom draws us together with our friends, nurtures our spirituality, connects us and our children with our age-old Jewish traditions, and empowers our drive to repair the world and connect with other communities. All this takes financial resources beyond what our dues structure supports.

This year Havurah’s budget depends on our contributing financially beyond our dues.  Most of our fundraising activity involves events that build community and bring us together for enjoyable moments–music, theater, and more.  But these only go so far.

Donate now in honor of friends or relatives, fellow Havurahniks you wish to honor with a gift, Rabbi Joey, Deborah Eisenbach-Budner, or Mario Castellar.  Let’s fill a whole page or more in Hakol with such tributes!

Please send a Chanukah check to the office today, or donate now online
