You may be missing out on a very special Havurah community experience if you have not attended one of our Second Friday Kabbalat Shabbat evenings.  Join us for a modestly-priced dinner and a music-filled Shabbat service led by Rabbi Joey

Don’t miss out! Please RSVP by this Sunday! (Deadline Extension)
Please pay online. Please note that there is a $1.00 service charge for online registration.

If you cannot join us for dinner at 6:30, then please come at 7:30 for this very inspirational service followed by the oneg Shabbat and dessert.  It’s a lovely way to transition to Shabbat following the long work and school week.  Bring a friend to join you!

Tu B’Shvat Hike and Feast for All Ages! Sunday, February 5, 10:30 am

January 24, 2012

We are looking for an alternative site fairly close to Havurah since the Macleay Park trail washed out.  We will send all those that RSVPed the updated plan and directions.

The holiday of Tu B’Shvat celebrates the ‘birthday of the trees.’ But, why do that in the middle of winter rather than during the green blossoming of spring or the harvests of autumn? Tu B’shvat inspires us to notice subtle new growth on the trees around us.

Please RSVP by January 31 with family names and ages of any children. We’ll send you directions and an inclement weather plan.

Please bring one of the traditional 7 species (something with wheat, barley, figs, grapes, pomegranates, olives, honey) and some other fruit or nut. For more information on the spiritual and cultural meaning of the 7 species, please see the information on our website.

Read some of the writing pieces from “The Memoir Writing from a Jewish Perspective Class”

January 10, 2012

Thank you to Rob Freedman and the entire Memoir Class group for a wonderful night full of laughter, tears, happiness and reflection. Their creativity and especially the courage to stand in front of a group of people and expose their feelings, fears, desires and triumphs is what makes Havurah a truly participatory community.

Members of the class have been asked to share their stories. Click on each person’s name for a link to their memoir piece.
