Purim Celebration

6:30 PM - 8:30 PMHavurahThe party begins with family-focused fun at 6:30 pm, including a potluck of Hamantaschen and fruit, games for the younger set, and a costume parade. All are welcome for the first part of the party and for the sing-a-long after it, which will be led by Ilene Safyan. An adult spiel will begin at 7:30 pm.

About the spiel ... Does the ever-changing landscape of this year's election leave you fearful and perplexed? Do you wonder who will face off with whom – and how it will all play out?
Join us on Wednesday, March 23, for live election coverage! Our Purim spiel, called "G.rand O.ld P.urim," includes these characters:
- Haman, or The Dangerous Man with the Comb-Over
- Esther, whose name was Hillary before she converted
- Mordechai, who feels the Bern – and is the Bern
The spiel also includes Rachel Maddow, protesters, cops, and an invisible enemy called ProSIS. You won’t want to miss this year’s Purim spiel at Havurah!

This is a spiritual space for community members working in solidarity with Palestinians - and for the liberation of all peoples - to come together to pray, build connections, and renew ourselves on Shabbat to continue our justice work. A gender-inclusive New Moon group, learning and celebrating each Rosh Ḥodesh with ancient and contemporary ritual. Open to any and all genders, inviting each to connect with our closest heavenly body, the Moon. An introductory meeting will happen on the full moon of Elul on Wednesday, Aug. 30 outdoors—weather permitting—in North Portland. Subsequent meetings will be on or near the new moon of each month either in person in North Portland or on Zoom, depending on seasonal shifts in the weather. Attend any or all sessions. RSVP to be updated on location and other details throughout the year. -
